Further, we hope voters do their due diligence and research the candidates and issues prior to heading to the polls on Tuesday, November 5.  More than two dozen local business and nonprofits showcased their products and services at Cantara Cellars last Thursday for WVCBA's Fall Business Expo & Mixer. Emcee Jennifer Caldwell of FoodShare of Ventura County had the mic and kept everyone entertained with lively interviews with exhibitors and raffling prizes throughout the event. The Expo aimed to be fun and informative, offering the opportunity for companies, organizations and residents to connect. At its September meeting, the West Ventura County Business Alliance Board of Directors voted on five measures that will be on the November 5 election ballot. One of the measures impacts local residents in the Oxnard Union High School District; the other four measures will appear on all ballots for residents of the State of California. WVCBA is celebrating the grand opening of Spring Pharmacy located at 2650 E. Vineyard Avenue in Oxnard near the El Rio and Riverpark neighborhoods. "We are excited to open our doors to the community and provide a new resource for quality pharmaceutical care," says owner and pharmacist Dr. Sora Yoon, an Oxnard resident for more than 35 years. "Our goal is to support the health and well-being of our neighbors, and we look forward to building lasting relationships with the people of El Rio and beyond." The Political Action Committee (PAC) of the West Ventura County Business Alliance recently announced endorsements for five candidates running for local office in the November 2024 election that impact voters in Oxnard and Camarillo. The Political Action Committee (PAC) of the West Ventura County Business Alliance recently released endorsements for six candidates running for office in Camarillo and Oxnard in the November 2024 election. Please keep these candidates in mind when heading to the polls this fall. In a state legislature that rarely delivers good news for employers, Camarillo and Oxnard businesses can celebrate the historic agreement between business groups and labor advocates that brings meaningful reform to California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). This agreement took the form of two bills (SB 92 and AB 2288), passed by the Legislature and was recently signed by Governor Newsom. These PAGA reforms ensure workers retain a strong tool to resolve labor claims and receive fair compensation while limiting frivolous lawsuits that often target small businesses, nonprofits and all employers to the tune of billions of dollars annually.  At its July meeting, the West Ventura County Business Alliance Board of Directors voted on four measures that will be on the November 5 election ballot for residents of Oxnard’s Riverpark neighborhood. All four initiatives focus on special Mello-Roos taxes Riverpark residential and commercial property owners pay to fund maintenance of parks, landscaping and sports fields, flood and storm protection, school grounds upkeep, and police protection. The tax district – Community Facilities District No. 5 – was established in 2005 as Riverpark was being developed.  Last month, the 2024 Oxnard Leadership Program (OLP) covered everything from the land, sea and air for their sixth session of the year, Energy & Environment Day as they met with representatives throughout the day from Aera Energy, Western States Petroleum Association, Southern California Edison, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Weather Service. The agenda for the day was meticulously put together by Justin Campbell, Director of Remediation & Environmental Compliance Services for Catalyst Environmental Solutions, as well as 2018 OLP Alum.

 OXNARD, Calif. – On June 14, 2024, the West Ventura County Business Alliance (WVCBA) hosted Mayor
John C. Zaragoza for the annual State of the City address. Over 200 attendees gathered to hear the Mayor’s updates on Oxnard's positive and balanced budget, which includes a $35 million surplus; significant investments in improving Oxnard’s streets; and the City’s plan to help businesses grow and thrive in Oxnard.  The 2024 Oxnard Leadership Program officially crossed the halfway mark this past Friday with the conclusion of the jam-packed History, Arts & Culture Day, which was held all in Downtown Oxnard. There is never enough time in a single day to hit everything, especially in a city with such a rich and diverse history and culture like Oxnard, but they made the most of it. This day was made possible by the incredible efforts and dedication of Carolyn Mullin, Executive Director of the Oxnard Performing Arts Center (OPAC) and Class of 2022 alum, and Gary Blum, Superintendent of Heritage Square and local historian, who were critical in planning and leading the day.
 Last week the WVCBA's Women in Business committee hosted a Spring Mixer at Tierra Sur at Herzog Wine Cellars. The event brought together many individuals, (both men and women), from all around our business community to meet, network, and create connections.
 Last week the West Ventura County Business Alliance welcomed Central Coast Laundry to Camarillo with their grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony.
