Get to know Jaclyn Madrid Mercer, our "Maven of the Month" brought to you by our Women In Business committee. Jaclyn is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional who joined Ellevest in 2019 and has worked in the financial services industry for over a decade. Ellevest was founded in 2014 by Sallie Krawcheck with a goal to be the #1 investing platform for women. They provide investment management, financial planning, retirement planning, and impact investing services. In addition to Jaclyn being Maven of the Month, the WVCBA also is excited to welcome Ellevest as a new member!

As a Financial Advisor on Ellevest’s Private Wealth Management team, Jaclyn works closely with clients to develop financial plans and custom portfolios that prioritize their goals and incorporate their values. Her goal is to partner with you and your family—seeking to optimize your financial life so you can enjoy what you love. If you enjoy hiking, you’ll likely bump into Jaclyn on one of the local Ventura County trails on the weekend.

As someone doing business in Ventura County, how does the chamber help you?
The chamber allows us to expand our brand reach through networking opportunities. The WVCBA also helps me give back to the community by connecting me with local businesses I can support.

What’s an interesting fact about your business most people don’t know?
Ellevest offers impact investing across an entire portfolio and all asset classes: equities/stocks, bonds/fixed income, and alternatives.

Do you have any advice for new business owners?
Find trusted advisors (tax, payroll, financial, attorney, insurance, etc.) and leverage their expertise so you can focus on running your business. Sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know.

What is the company's mission or motto?
We’re on a mission to get more money in the hands of women.

What’s one thing the business is known for over its competitors?
Impact investing - an investment strategy that seeks to generate financial returns while also creating a positive social or environmental impact.
