STAN DAILY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Al Lowe As founder of Al Lowe Construction, Inc., (ALC), Al has created a company with a trusted reputation of excellence in the building industry. He is a Civil Engineer with over 45 years of experience, and has completed more than a thousand projects for many satisfied and often repeat clients. ALC specializes in remodeling and building custom homes, has worked in most of Ventura’s hospitals along with remodeling medical and dental offices and buildings, and more. Over the years, Al has been recognized as one of the nation’s Top 50 Remodeling Professionals by Remodeling Magazine, has been placed in Qualified Remodeler Magazine’s Top 500 List of Remodeling Contractors in the country, and for many years has won the Ventura County Star’s Readers Choice Award for Best Contractor. Additionally, Al is dedicated to community service. He has been awarded Man of the Year by Camarillo Chamber of Commerce, Rotarian of the Year by Camarillo Rotary Club, and was the recipient of Casa Pacifica’s Guardian Angel Award. Currently, Al serves on the Board of Directors for the Museum of Ventura County, Casa Pacifica Centers for Children & Families, TOArts, and Camarillo Rotary Club. He is also Chair of the Development Task Force for SEEAG and an alumnus of Ventura County Leadership Academy Cohort XXIX. Al has lived in Ventura County for 72 years. He is married to Petra, has raised his family here, and now has nine grandchildren. He is humbled and grateful to the West Ventura County Business Alliance for being chosen to receive the Stan Daily Lifetime Achievement Award.

WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Megan Voshell Megan Voshell is the Executive Director of the Camarillo Family YMCA, the wife of a high school educator, and the mom of two children, Emerson and Rylan. Megan has been employed by the YMCA for 27 years working for several Y Associations in Southern California but truly found her community here in Camarillo. Megan was born and raised in Camarillo and returned to her home town in 2006 to raise a family of her own. Megan is a graduate of California State University Northridge where she majored in liberal studies with an emphasis in English literature with a focus on Education. She is the immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Camarillo and believes in service above self, providing opportunities for youth and teens, and making a lasting impact on the lives of many. The mission of the YMCA and the mission of Rotary neatly align allowing Megan the opportunity to both work and volunteer in environments where she feels she can truly make a difference.

MAN OF THE YEAR
Rick Pena Rick married Jodie in 2016 and together they have made significant contributions to our community. As the owner and broker of Realty Executives California Coast, he has provided exceptional real estate services for over 20 years. He and Jodie were awarded the Ventura County Board of Realtors Good Neighbor Award in 2023 for their outstanding community service. Additionally, Rick coaches little league baseball, supports many local charities, and is a board member for the Pleasant Valley Historical Museum. Most notably, Rick is the founder and CEO of the Miracle League of the 805, a chapter of the Miracle League, a baseball league for kids and adults with special needs. With the help of an incredible board of directors, they raised 1.5 million dollars to build an all-inclusive baseball field at Freedom Park. This beautiful field, made of synthetic turf and completely flat to accommodate wheelchairs and walkers, hosted its inaugural season this spring.

BUSINESS OF THE YEAR
Vilanova Brazilian Jiu Jistu Founded in 2016 by Alicia and Beto Vilanova, Vilanova Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a prominent Martial Arts academy. With a passion for teaching and a wealth of experience, Beto has cultivated an environment that fosters growth, discipline, and community. Beto's journey into Brazilian Jiu Jitsu began over two decades ago. His dedication to the art led him to train under some of the world's most renowned instructors. Beto honed his skills, competed at the highest levels, and earned numerous accolades along the way. Fueled by his passion, he decided to share his knowledge and expertise with others, through Vilanova Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which welcomes individuals of all ages and skill levels, from beginners looking to embark on their martial arts journey to experienced practitioners seeking to refine their techniques. The academy prides itself on being a supportive and inclusive community, where students can thrive both physically and mentally with a team of highly trained instructors in a state-of-the-art training facility.

NONPROFIT OF THE YEAR
ACTION VC ACTION VC is a local nonprofit that helps under-resourced families and individuals across Ventura County. For 20 years, ACTION VC has worked through a network of volunteers to perform minor home repairs, build ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps, install stability measures for people with disabilities, coordinate service days, and provide gifts for families in need at Christmas. Since its inception, it has put back $9 Million into the community through thousands of completed projects. ACTION VC aims to make this county a connected community where residents can access the resources and care they deserve to thrive.

PUBLIC SERVANT OF THE YEAR
Senior Deputy John Meeker Senior Deputy John Meeker began his law enforcement career with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office in 2008. John has worked a variety of assignments including custody at all three jails, Thousand Oaks Patrol, Thousand Oaks Traffic, Moorpark Patrol, Housing Supervisor at Todd Road Jail, and is currently assigned as the Crime Prevention Coordinator for the Camarillo Police Department. John completes numerous community presentations on crime trends, civilian response to active assailant attacks, and scams/frauds. He is the law enforcement liaison for the Neighborhood Watch and Business Watch Programs. John is certified by the National Institute of Crime Prevention in Crime Prevention through Environmental Design and he completes site assessments and city planning reviews. John supervises the Camarillo Disaster Assistance Response Team and Camarillo Citizen’s Patrol volunteer teams. In addition, he facilitates two 12-week citizen’s academies per year and runs the station's social media pages.

ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR
Eric Horne Eric Horne, also known as Eric the Bug Guy, has become a trusted name in the industry due to his passion, expertise, and commitment to customer satisfaction. With his personalized approach, environmentally friendly practices, and dedication to education, Eric continues to make a positive impact in his field. Eric's commitment to providing environmentally friendly solutions has been a cornerstone of his business. He firmly believes in finding the balance between pest management and the preservation of the natural ecosystem. Through careful assessment and targeted treatments, Eric ensures the elimination of pests while minimizing harm to beneficial insects and the environment. Additionally, Eric actively participates in community outreach programs, conducting seminars and presentations to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining a pest-free environment. His dedication to continuous learning enables him to provide the highest level of service to his clients.

EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR
Sarah Chinberg Sarah has two BA's from the University of California, Irvine, as well as her Education Specialist credential and a Master of Science in Special Education from California Lutheran University. With a passion for special education, Sarah has dedicated the past 8 years to teaching at Dos Caminos Elementary in the Pleasant Valley School District where she served on the Leadership Team and a task force aimed at enhancing integration opportunities for students with special needs. She currently teaches 2nd grade in a special day class, catering to students with a wide range of needs and exceptionalities including autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, speech impairments, and orthopedic impairments. Sarah believes that all students are capable learners and enjoys the challenge of finding what each child needs to progress and grow in their own unique way. Sarah is not only an advocate for students but a mentor for student teachers as well as a wife and mother to Luke and Lola.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
Nina Andres Nina grew up in Thousand Oaks and moved to Camarillo in 1991. She attended Moorpark College before gaining 35 years of experience in the banking industry. She is currently a vice-president at City National Bank. However, Nina's passions extend beyond her field as she is an avid volunteer and involved in many charitable initiatives in the area. She has been on the board of the Boys & Girls Club of Camarillo for many years, including serving as the board chair for over 5 years. She also serves by coming in person to the club. She loves visiting with the kids, teaching dance, wrapping baskets for the silent auction, and welcoming donors for a tour. She helps raise a significant amount of much needed funding as well. Additionally, she been an active member of the Meadowlark Service League for 15 years. Nina is described as a light to everyone around her and is a well-known and well-respected member of the Camarillo community.
