Oxnard & Camarillo, Calif., FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The West Ventura County Business Alliance, the chamber of commerce serving Camarillo and Oxnard, will host the State of the University address by President Richard Yao, Ph.D., of California State University Channel Islands on Friday, April 29. Each year, the president addresses the business community regarding the state of the university. Yao was appointed to serve as the fourth president of CSUCI in January 2022 after serving as interim president since January 2021. He first joined the University in 2018 after being appointed vice president for student affairs. Yao is a licensed clinical psychologist who came to CSUCI from Nevada State College where he was the founding Dean of Students and the chief student affairs officer. He earned a bachelor's in Psychology and a master's in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Illinois University, and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara. The CSUCI Connection Luncheon takes place at Pacific View Tower Club (300 E. Esplanade Drive, 22nd Floor, Oxnard 93036) from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Tickets must be reserved by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, and are $50 for WVCBA members and $65 for non-members.
