Photos: CSUCI President delivers annual State of the University address

On April 29 at the Pacific View Tower Club, the WVCBA welcomed CSU Channel Islands' Richard Yao, Ph.D. who delivered his first State of the University address as President. ​Yao was appointed the fourth president of CSUCI in January after serving as interim president since January 2021. ​

President Yao shared enrollment plans and strategies, highlighted alumni success stories, and reviewed projects including the Early Childhood Care and Education Center, University Glen expansion, Gateway Hall, and its cost-saving solar array. He was pleased to share that the University experienced a 16% increase in admitted freshman for Fall 2022 and that 71% of alumni continue to reside in the region, with many working in health care and K-12 education.  

The WVCBA hosts the CSUCI Connection Luncheon each year to keep the business community informed and connected to the University, a vital economic engine in our region.
