Go directly to jail! That's how the Class of 2020 Oxnard Leadership Program participants kicked off their first session of the year. The group of 12 went behind-the-scenes for a daylong exploration of the City of Oxnard’s public safety services, including meeting with city’s 21st Chief of Police Scott Whitney, a tour to one of Ventura County's main jails, a tour of Oxnard Police Department, a presentation on police use of body cameras from Community Service Officer Corina Gardner, and a tour and demos with the Oxnard SWAT team. The session was coordinated by Paul Carganilla, Community Affairs Manager for the Oxnard Police Department.
