Oxnard Leadership '24 gets inside look of individuals and services responsible for city and county public safety

​Last week for Public Safety Day, the Oxnard Leadership Class of 2024 got a giant peak behind the curtain of the incredible men and women who work tirelessly to operate the public services which keeps this city and county safe. The jam-packed day included presentations from Oxnard Chief of Police Jason Benites, Public Defender Claudia Bautista, Sheriff's Commander Garo Kuredjian and Emergency Services Director Patrick Maynard, as well as tours of the Oxnard Police Department, OPD's Sturgis Annex, Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility and Office of Emergency Services. The highly insightful day was made possible by the masterful coordination of Tom Cady, WVCBA Board Member and Former Assistant Chief of Police of Oxnard.

Public Safety Day offers a comprehensive glimpse into the collaborative efforts of Oxnard's law enforcement entities, emergency responders, and judicial system, showcasing their synchronized approach to ensuring community safety. Through engaging Q&A sessions facilitated by Oxnard Leadership class with representatives from the Police Department, Sheriff's Office, emergency response teams, SWAT, Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility, and courts, attendees gain valuable insights into the intricate workings of each department. Hands-on demonstrations and facility tours elucidate the meticulous procedures followed by SWAT teams during emergencies and the meticulous process of inmate processing at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility. This immersive experience underscores the cohesive synergy among these agencies in safeguarding the Oxnard community, emphasizing the significance of collaboration and effective communication in maintaining public safety.
