Member Spotlight: Juliann Laufer of Soroptimist International Oxnard and Guild Mortgage

​Get to know Juliann Laufer, our "Maven of the Month" brought to you by the WVCBA Women in Business committee. She represents Soroptimist International Oxnard (SIO) and Guild Mortgage.  

What can you tell us about the businesses and organizations you represent?
Soroptimist has a similar mission that of WVCBA.  The goal is to improve the lives of women and girls.  The title Soroptimists is coined after the term “Best for Women”.  We are an international organization. SIO is one of many chapters worldwide. We are based in Oxnard. It is amazing to see how we impact the lives of women around the world AND locally.

Guild Mortgage has been helping home ownership since 1960! And, actually, that is quite an accomplishment!  I’m sure you all can think of banks that have come and gone over the years.  I have been in the mortgage business for 35 years. I can’t think of anything I rather do then listen to my clients, their goals and help them create a plan to accomplish their goals.

As someone involved in business in the region, how does the Alliance help you?
Networking!  So many people do not know about what you are passionate about unless you share.  Do not keep your passions a secret! There is power in numbers!

What’s an interesting fact about you that most people don’t know?
I won the Betty Crocker Scholarship from Hugh School for my achievements in Home Economics.  LOL!  Yep, I love to cook and entertain!

Do you have any advice for new business owners?
​Write a business plan.  Stick to the daily goals. Don’t let the setbacks discourage you...tomorrow is another day.

Juliann is a California licensed Mortgage Loan Specialist who has loved every moment of her 25 year career helping her community and partner realtors reach their homeownership goals. Juliann's expertise is her consistent and committed communication and customer service. Her focus on keeping her clients and realtor partners informed and educated throughout the process of the transaction has allowed her to excel at what she does. Working with all types of clients, she enjoys the variety of every situation and guiding it to a successful and happy outcome.

Juliann's love for the outdoors has kept her busy with her family and grandchildren. With hobbies including hiking, outdoor sporting and marathon running. Living in Channel Island Harbor has made her home a retreat to enjoy. Her ultimate love however, is the many wonderful memories and travels with her husband and best friend.
