Member Spotlight: Sylvan Learning Center & Class 101 College Planning of Camarillo

WVCBA is delighted to welcome Sylvan Learning Center & Class 101 College Planning of Camarillo as a member! Owner/Center Director Dr. Fang Fang is a local educator, parent, and business owner with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA and many years of experience in research, teaching, mentoring, and student development. Her goal is to make Sylvan Learning and Class 101 of Camarillo a trusted, welcoming place where students feel supported, families feel guided, and education feels less overwhelming. Sylvan Learning Center of Camarillo is scheduled to open in June at 400 W. Ventura Blvd., Suite 110. 

What products or services do you provide?
We provide academic support and college planning services for local families. Sylvan Learning Center offers personalized tutoring in reading, writing, math, homework support, study skills, test prep, and academic enrichment. Class 101 College Planning helps high school students with college lists, applications, essays, scholarships, test prep, resumes, deadlines, and overall college planning.
 
How and when did the business get started?
I started Class 101 of Camarillo in April 2026 to help high school students and families navigate the college planning process with less stress and more structure. I am also opening Sylvan Learning Center in Camarillo in June 2026 to support younger students academically and help them build confidence, skills, and a stronger foundation for long-term success.

Our mission is to help students grow with confidence, discover their strengths, and build a clear path toward future success. We believe every student deserves personalized support, encouragement, and a plan that fits who they are.

What’s one thing you're known for over your competitors?
Sylvan Learning offers comprehensive academic support across multiple subject areas through personalized and adaptive learning plans. Our goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to build confidence, strengthen study and learning skills, and help students carry that confidence back into the classroom. Class 101 provides comprehensive college planning with structured accountability, individualized one-on-one guidance, access to a national network of more than 100 college planners, strong student outcomes, and fair pricing. Our focus is not simply helping students get into college; it is helping them discover direction, confidence, and a future path that fits who they are.

Why did you choose Camarillo for the business location?
I chose Camarillo because it is a family-centered community with strong schools, engaged parents, and students with tremendous potential. At the same time, I believe there is a meaningful need for more accessible, high-quality academic support and college planning services in West Ventura County. My goal is to build a trusted local education resource that works alongside families, schools, and community organizations to support students at every stage of their academic journey.

Do you have any upcoming products or events?
We will offer a six-week summer program from mid-June through the end of July, along with personalized tutoring in reading, writing, math, study skills, and academic enrichment. Through Class 101 College Planning, we are also offering a Summer Power-Up program that includes a free SAT/ACT practice test and personalized test prep options through either one-on-one or small-group instruction. In addition, we provide high school math and science tutoring to help students strengthen their academic foundation, improve grades, and prepare for future college success.

How can the business community help?
The business community can help by connecting us with local families, schools, parent groups, and community events where we can provide educational resources. We are also interested in partnerships, workshops, sponsorship opportunities, and ways to support students, teachers, and families in Ventura County.
