Oxnard Chamber Now Accepting Ads For Cowboys Training Camp Program

OXNARD, Calif., FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
Do you want to promote your business to 15,000 Ventura County residents and visitors at the 2019 Dallas Cowboys Training Camp?
 
Advertising sales are open for the annual Dallas Cowboys Training Camp souvenir program, published by the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce. Training camp is scheduled for July 27 through August 15 at River Ridge Fields.
 
This highly sought-after, full-color program (5.5” wide by 8.5” high) includes the team roster, training camp and regular season schedules, and autograph pages. It is distributed for free to all training camp attendees.
 
Ad space is open to all businesses; discounted rates are available for Oxnard Chamber members.
 
Ad sales close Friday, June 28, 2019. Quarter-page, half-page and full-page ad spaces are available.
 
According to an economic impact study conducted a few years ago, more than 50,000 people attend training camp and spend nearly $4 million on hotels, shopping and dining out. Businesses that advertised in previous training camp programs were thrilled with the response they received.

Oxnard Chamber Endorses Kelly Long For Ventura County Supervisor District 3

OXNARD, Calif., FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –
​The Oxnard Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce its endorsement of incumbent Kelly Long for Ventura County Supervisor in District 3.

​Her campaign is based on:
  • Family: Improving commutes, attracting higher paying jobs and creating affordable housing;
  • Community: Advocating for STEAM-focused education, public safety and the environment; and
  • Balanced Budget: Balancing the county budget with no new taxes and by cutting waste.
 
A resident of Camarillo, Long is currently serving her first term on the board in the District 3 seat, which represents Camarillo, Port Hueneme, Southeast Oxnard, East Oxnard Plain, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Piru, East Lockwood Valley, and Eastern Portion of Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme.
 
Long is an experienced businesswoman who holds six patents and a degree in mechanical engineering from California State University Long Beach. In the community, Long was president of the Pleasant Valley School District, and has been an active supporter of multiple PTA boards, the Pleasant Valley Swim Team, Channel Islands Rowing Club, and StemYes.Org.
 
The winner of the District 3 race will be decided in the presidential primary set for March 3, 2020. However, if no candidate captures more than 50% of the vote, then the top two would face off in the November 2020 general election.

Mayor Tim Flynn To Present The State Of The City Address At Oxnard Chamber Of Commerce Event

OXNARD, Calif., FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The Oxnard Chamber of Commerce will host Oxnard Mayor Tim Flynn for his annual State of the City address on Friday, June 7. Also speaking at the event is Oxnard City Manager Alex Nguyen.
 
The Mayor will deliver an update on the city’s economic development efforts, which he stated was his top focus in his 2018 address, as well as discuss the recently announced budget proposal.
 
"We sincerely appreciate the Mayor and City Manager accepting our invitation to address the business community," says Chamber CEO Nancy Lindholm. "It's not often that commerce and government are in the same room together. The State of the City address provides an update on what is happening in Oxnard and where the city's priorities are."
 
Flynn was first elected Mayor in 2012 and is now in his fourth term. Prior to becoming mayor, he was a city councilmember from 2004-2008 and 2010-2012, as well as a teacher for 25 years in the Oxnard Union High School District and at Oxnard College.
 
Nguyen was appointed City Manager in July 2018. He came to Oxnard with 20 years of California municipal experience in Oakland, Alameda and Riverside.
 
The State of the City is being held at the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Resort, which is located at 2101 Mandalay Beach Road Oxnard, CA 93035. It will begin with lunch at 11:30 a.m. and a welcome message from Oxnard Chamber Chair of the Board Stacy Miller, CEO of Stacy Miller Public Affairs. Nguyen will speak first, followed by Mayor Flynn’s address.
 
The event is open to the public. Lunch is $50 per person and reservations must be made in advance at OxnardChamber.org or by calling the Chamber office at (805) 983-6118.

Oxnard Chamber Celebrates The City’s Top People, Businesses And Organizations

Winners will be honored at the 69th annual Community and Business Awards on April 25
 
OXNARD, Calif., FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – The Oxnard Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the nine recipients of its annual Community & Business Awards, which will be celebrated on Thursday, April 25, at 6:00 p.m. at the Residence Inn by Marriott at River Ridge.
 
Now in its 69th year, the Community & Business Awards honors outstanding individuals, businesses and organizations that make Oxnard a wonderful community to live, work and do business in.
 
"There are incredible people doing amazing things in Oxnard," says Chamber CEO Nancy Lindholm. "We're glad we could identify a few of them so we can honor their efforts."
 
Nominations are submitted by the public and reviewed by a selection committee. In addition to the nominations, the Oxnard Chamber Board of Directors selects an individual, business or organization to receive the Oxnard Trophy for bringing recognition to Oxnard and bettering the community.
​
The 2019 winners are:

  • Distinguished Citizen of the Year: Bryan MacDonald is a retired police officer with a long history of community involvement at the American Cancer Society Gold Coast Community Council, Elite Theater Company, the Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board for the County of Ventura Behavioral Health Department, and more. He also is Santa Claus for the Oxnard Christmas Parade and the annual Santa to the Sea half marathon!
  • Business Advocate of the Year: Mark Spellman of Lazer Broadcasting Corporation sits on the board of directors for Downtown Oxnard, the California Strawberry Festival and the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce, and is committed to helping the community at large, not just the business community. 
  • Large Business of the Year: Ventura County Credit Union serves more than 80,000 members in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties while investing its profits back into the credit union to benefit local non-profit organizations and causes.
  • Small Business of the Year: JaniTek Cleaning Solutions in Oxnard gives back, supports and participates with community nonprofit organizations. Customer care is its priority and it is committed to sustainable business practices as a Green Certified Business. 
  • Best Place to Work: Puretec Industrial Water was certified in 2018 by independent analysts at Great Place to Work® with employees citing opportunities for advancement, work/life balance, attention to health and well-being, and more. 
  • Nonprofit Organization of the Year: Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association has been around since 1947 serving Ventura County with home health, palliative care, hospice, non-medical home care, and grief and bereavement services. 
  • Volunteer of the Year: Jeff McGreevy of the Oxnard Police Department raised more than $23,000 in 2018 for the Oxnard Police Explorers Foundation, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and the American Cancer Society. In January 2019, he proposed an Oxnard PD commemorative patch to support Autism Awareness Month, which is currently underway. 
  • Innovative Business of the Year: CURE Pharmaceutical is changing the way medication and supplements are ingested through the manufacturing of a thin film that can deliver pharmaceuticals or dietary supplements in an easy-to-administer form. 
  • Oxnard Trophy: The Oxnard Salsa Festival attracts 35,000 attendees to Downtown Oxnard for an annual, two-day celebration of everything salsa: food, music and dance. 

The 69th annual Community & Business Awards will be held Thursday, April 25 at 6:00 p.m. at the Residence Inn by Marriott at River Ridge, which is located at 2101 West Vineyard Avenue, Oxnard, California, 93036.
