Celebrating one year as the WVCBA!

Sunday, May 1, 2022, officially marked our first anniversary as the WVCBA! We are grateful for your support as we celebrate the one-year milestone as the united chamber of commerce representing Camarillo and Oxnard.
We extend our sincerest thanks to our members – we wouldn’t be here without you. We proudly represent 700 businesses and 40,000 jobs throughout our communities. We are grateful to you for investing in us and allowing us to represent the business interests of our communities.
It felt wonderful introducing our Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Lifetime Directors during our Annual Meeting in March 2022 – in person! We are fortunate to have such a dedicated group of volunteer leaders that represent outstanding businesses in our two communities.
We have welcomed 83 new members since uniting and celebrated 18 ribbon cuttings to mark grand openings, re-openings, anniversaries and more. We look forward to celebrating more of your milestones this year and beyond!
Thank you!

May 1, 2021 - April 30, 2022: A Look Back
The Voice for Business at All Levels of GovernmentAmong the many issues we have taken positions on are include mandatory paid time off, joint liability for employers, projects to boost our local economy, and a strong effort to reopen businesses as the pandemic waned. We continue representing business interests and advocate for public policies that promote a healthy economy for our communities, especially during this election year.

The Champion for a Stronger CommunityWe have nine volunteer committees that keep us connected with members and the community. Without these committees, some of our most time-honored traditions wouldn’t be possible, including the Military Appreciation Dinner (since 1997) and Camarillo Educator of the Month (since 1987). Our Young Professionals committee looks forward to its 2022 kickoff event in June.
|
The Convener of Leaders and InfluencersWe hosted numerous opportunities for the business community and government officials to come together, including Oxnard Mayor John Zaragoza’s first State of the City address and Charlotte Craven’s final address as Mayor of Camarillo. We also presented updates to the business community from The Port of Hueneme’s CEO, CSUCI’s President, and Ventura County’s Director of Airports.
|
The Catalyst for Business GrowthWe love shining the spotlight on local businesses. Board Chair Dawn Simmons launched the video series “Focus On…” and visits a different member business in each episode. Our Spring Business Expo showcased nearly 30 local businesses and organizations, and more than 15,000 copies of our print publications – the Dallas Cowboys Training Camp Souvenir Program and the annual Business & Community Guide – were distributed to visitors, residents and businesses.
|
The Connection Across CommunitiesSince uniting, we’ve hosted more than 200 in-person and virtual events and meetings with more than 3,000 attendees. Highlights include honoring the best-of-the-best through the 71st annual Oxnard Community & Business Awards and the 54th annual Camarillo Top Ten Awards, and bringing together business professionals and 40 local high school students for mock job interviews.
