These websites are good starting points for more children's book information. They are full of reviews, booklists and links to other related sites.
The Children's Book Council is a non-profit organization which promotes literacy with the use of children's books. Each year they sponsor Children's Book Week and Young People's Poetry Week. They supply bookmarks, posters and brochures to encourage the use of books with children---some are free and others have a nominal charge.
Their site includes biographies of authors and illustrators. CBC
The Children's Literature Web Guide is organized by David K. Brown a librarian at the Doucette Library of Teaching Resources, University of Calgary. He finds and categorizes Internet sites related to books for children and young adults.
CLWG
The BookHive, a website by the Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenberg County, reviews books for children from birth to sixth grade and can be searched by topic or reading level. This site is aimed at children and their parents and includes quizzes, activities and storytellers. BookHive
TheChildren's Literature reviews over 3000 books each year. Their mission is "to help teachers, librarians, childcare providers and parents make appropriate literary choices for children." The Fairrosa Cyber Library of Children's Literature has extensive links to stories, booklists and Internet resources. It's the personal collection of librarian Roxanne Hsu Feldman's links and is aimed at adults. It includes articles and ongoing discussions on various aspects of children's books. Fairrosa
The Children's Book Guild of Washington, D.C. (with the Washington Post) presents a yearly nonfiction children's book award for an author's or illustrator's body of work. Their members include many authors and illustrators from the Baltimore/DC area, about 45 of whom have biographical pages on this site. They also have a speaker's bureau of authors and illustrators who do programs in schools and libraries. CBG
